WORKING TO REDUCE REBATE APPLICATIONS PROCESSING TIME BY 15-18% ANNUALLY
For most solar electric installations, the interconnection to the utility is the final step in the overall process. It is the point where the customer begins to realize the value of their investment and the integrator realizes full revenue recognition. However, diverse utility interconnection requirements continue to be a source of added costs for the industry.
SolarTech is defining uniform set of interconnection standards and processes to improve predictability and reduce uncertainty for both consumers and installers.
- more about SolarTech's Interconnection Initiative -
OBJECTIVES:
- Establish a common set of standards, forms, and processes
across utilities - Develop online submittal process for interconnections
- Standardize training options for simplicity and scalability
- Increase transparency for post application connections
CURRENT PROJECTS:
- Review Utility interconnection best practices
- Investigate elimination of Utility engineering review for certain sized systems or base requirements
- Address Building Permit to Utility delays
- Encourage industry-wide adoption of elimination of AC disconnect for inverter based systems with self contained meters
