the next decade 10,000 new employees will be needed in the solar industry in Silicon Valley. Yet there is currently little solar-specific training courses  without our secondary or skilled trade education system. SolarTech works with multiple partners to identify and address business needs for a flexible workforce and develop strategies, ensuring effective workforce development networks.

SolarTech works with SVIDRC Partners to design and execute an integrated, comprehensive and sustainable workforce delivery system within the community college system.

SV IDRC ACCOMPLISHMENTS TO DATE:

  • Awarded a two-year, $645,000 grant from the CA Community Colleges State Chancellor's to establish a PV training curriculum in community colleges.
  • Rolled out program at San Jose City, Cabrillo and Ohlone Community Colleges in 2008 Developed internship program with industry

SILICON VALLEY SOLAR INDUSTRY DRIVEN REGIONAL COLLABORATION
(SV SOLAR IDRC)

SolarTech SV Solar IDRC is a strategic regional response to meet the need for a skilled workforce in solar PV system design and installation. This industry-driven effort aims to institutionalize within the community colleges training that individual employers are currently burdened with – at cost to their productivity and quality.
